The entire package, dubbed the “Eternal Collection” will sell for $59.99 at launch. Playing online will require Nintendo Switch Online Service, which is launching in September. The game will feature both the Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer expansions, as well as hosting 4-player co-op both on the same Switch and online. Though the article has been deleted, the information therein was preserved in a post on ResetEra. The game is apparently set to come to the Nintendo Switch in late 2018.įorbes initially reported early on the matter. Here is the trailer for the Diablo III: Eternal Collection on Nintendo Switch.ĭiablo has been quiet since the release of the Diablo III expansion, Rise of the Necromancer back in June 2017, but it would appear the 2012 game is getting a triumphant return to a place where it will be much appreciated.

Blizzard and Nintendo officially dropped a trailer on August 16, confirming many of the details in the original story below, including all of the expansions released for Diablo III and the inclusion of exclusive Legend of Zelda content, including the Ganondorf Cosmetic Armor set, a Triforce portrait, and a Cucco pet ( Hyrule's version of a chicken). The only real problem, as I mentioned before, is Nintendo's lackluster voice chat for its online service, something that could really limit an online-forward game but not cripple it by any means.UPDATE ( - 10:24AM) : The announcement of Diablo III: Eternal Collection on Switch has been confirmed.

Diablo 3 is an older game that likely wouldn't prove too taxing on Nintendo's hardware, with a local multiplayer proposition that fits the Switch quite well to boot. Publishers and developers across the industry are rushing to port their games to Nintendo's smash hit console, and Blizzard's only real candidates are Hearthstone and Diablo 3, the former of which isn't happening right away but could still sometime in the future.

I'm going to call this one eminently believable, both because of Eurogamer's track record and because a Switch port for Diablo 3 would just make a lot of sense. We've contacted Blizzard for comment and will update if we hear anything back, but don't expect anything: Blizzard seems to be playing this one close to the chest, either at Nintendo's behest or of its own volition. Now, a report from Eurogamer cites anonymous sources saying that yes, Diablo 3 is, in fact, coming to the Nintendo Switch.
